What is Foodhak?

Foodhak was founded on the idea that on one hand, food could be deeply nourishing, healing and restorative, and on the other, it could taste incredible. We believe in the power of food as medicine, and the idea that the food you eat can, and should, make you happier, healthier, and even help you live longer. Our combination of world-class gourmet chefs with health principles founded in both traditional Ayurvedic principles and the latest scientific research results in a wealth of nutritious, delicious meals, all ready to pour, heat and eat, and on your table in less than five minutes.

How does it work?

We make delicious, nutritious food as simple as possible. Our subscription service allows you to select the dishes you want in as many or as few portions as you like. We have over 50 dishes and sides across a range of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack menus in a variety of different cuisines. You can choose which day you want your Foodhak meals delivered, and edit your delivery date at any time. To edit your order or order date, simply go to 'my account' and select 'subscriptions'

What do you mean by food as medicine?

We talk about food as medicine, because we truly believe that what you eat affects every aspect of your health. Our approach is rooted in Ayurveda, an ancient Indian medicinal system, developed over more than 2000 years and practised by over 80% of the Indian subcontinent. This is combined with the most up-to-date clinical research and data to understand what food is best for our bodies, incorporating cutting edge learnings in our recipes.

Do you use plastic packaging?

We do, but with good reason. The plastic pouches we use to store food ensure that your meals stay fresher for longer. Because our pouches are heat sealed, the shelf life of our products is considerably longer than if we used a traditionally sustainable material. This prevents food waste which is a huge environmental problem. 

We do not use single-use-plastic, and all of our packaging is completely recyclable.

Is it okay to freeze Foodhak dishes?

Yes! All of our dishes are safe for home freezing. To thaw, set in the fridge overnight and then heat as per the package instructions.

When will it be delivered?

You can select a date for delivery when you checkout. It will take at least three days for your order to arrive - one day to prepare the food, and two days for delivery. We partner with DPD for home delivery. If you’re not going to be home, let the carrier know where to leave the box for you using the unique tracking number sent to you after order confirmation. All of our boxes are delivered in a wool-insulated pouch with ice packs to ensure your food is delivered cool.

Where do you deliver to?

We currently deliver across the almost entirety of the UK. The only exceptions are the following postcodes: AB, EI, FK, GY, HS, IM, IV, KA, KW, PA, PH, TR, ZE, BT, JE, PO30, PO31, PO32, PO33, PO34, PO35, PO36, PO37, PO38, PO39, PO40, PO41, G.

What if I’m out when my delivery arrives?

The day before your delivery DPD will notify you via email or text. On the notification given by DPD you can select 'show my options’ to allocate a safe place or deliver to a neighbour. On the day of your delivery DPD will notify you via email or text with a one hour time slot of delivery. If you are not in during this hour time slot you can add a safe place or ask them to deliver to a neighbour! If you know beforehand that you will not be in, you can contact us via email or WhatsApp to add a delivery note to your order!

I have a problem with my delivery, what do I do?

If you were expecting a box which hasn't been delivered, please contact us via email (contact@foodhak.com) or WhatsApp (07435608427) and we’ll do our best to help.

Can I delay or pause my delivery?

You can change or pause your delivery at any time through your account before the cut off date. Your cut off date is three days before your delivery. You cannot amend or pause your delivery after this time.

My box was stolen or not delivered. What should I do?

We use a third-party courier service to deliver your meals – DPD – which means that once the boxes have been collected from our site, they are their responsibility and we’re unable to track them any more than you can. Please raise any delivery issues directly with DPD quoting your order confirmation number.

How do I pause or cancel my subscription?

Our subscription is very flexible. You can pause and resume your account at any time! Please keep in mind that changes to the order have to be made prior to your order's cut-off date which is three days before your delivery date.

To pause directly from the website, follow these steps:

  • Login to your account.
  • Go to 'my account’
  • Then go to ‘subscriptions’
  • Under ‘active subscriptions’ select ‘edit’
  • Scroll down and select ‘pause subscription’

When you’re ready to reactivate your account, simply:

  • Login to your account.
  • Go to ‘my account’
  • Then go to ‘subscriptions’
  • Under ‘inactive subscriptions’ select ‘edit’
  • Scroll down and select ‘reactivate’
Can I pause my subscription indefinitely?

You can, there's no obligation to set an auto-resume date. To pause your subscription indefinitely, login to your account and:

  • Go to ‘my account’
  • Then go to ‘subscriptions’
  • Under ‘active subscriptions’ select ‘edit’
  • Scroll down to ‘pause subscription’
  • Select ‘pause without auto-resume’
How do I change the frequency of my delivery?

You can change the frequency of your delivery to every week, every two weeks, or every four weeks if you follow these steps:

  • Login to your account.
  • Go to ‘my account’
  • Then go to ‘subscriptions’
  • Under ‘active subscriptions’ select ‘edit’
  • Select ‘next delivery date’ and change accordingly.
How can I edit my order?

You won’t be able to edit your first box, as this is sent directly to our kitchen team to prep for delivery. For every box after your first, however, you can edit your meal selection and delivery date until three days before your box is due to be delivered. This gives you two days to select the dishes you want to try out next!

How do I apply a discount to my order?

For any first time orders, simply proceed to checkout as usual and then enter your discount code before paying. If you’re applying a discount to an existing order, edit your active subscription and choose the option to 'apply discount'.

    How do I store my meals?

    Our dishes are delivered fresh, so we always recommend storing them in the fridge. They can all be frozen if needed though, just pop them in the freezer before their expiry date.

    How do I cook the meals?

    You can heat all of our dishes up on the hob, in the oven, or with a microwave, and they each have warming instructions on the back of the pack.

    What size portions are the meals?

    Each pouch serves one person except for the soups and desserts which serve two.

    Cooked brown rice, white rice and quinoa serves 2.

    Uncooked gluten free pasta and cooked plain focaccia serves 1.

    You can check the size of the portion on the front of each pack.

    Are your meals organic?

    All of the fresh produce we use in our meals are locally sourced and home grown. And all of our ingredients are of the highest quality - we don’t cut corners with the essential components of our recipes. This often means that the ingredients are organic, but we prioritise freshness and sustainability over organic produce.

    Do you use any palm oil in your dishes?

    Our cookies, vanilla cake and sticky toffee pudding contain palm oil.

    We do not directly use palm oil, it is a component of some ingredients.

    Do you use garlic in your dishes?

    Yes, a lot of our meals do contain garlic. Garlic contribute to a reduction of blood pressure and cholesterol, as well as boosting your immune system

    We list all of the ingredients for each of our meals on the product web page, so if you have any allergies or intolerances, make sure you check the ingredients carefully before you order! Select the dish you are interested in and scroll down to the drop down where it says all ingredients.

    Where can I find your allergen information?

    We list the allergens in our meals in the ingredients section of the product description pages. All of the bold ingredients are known allergens. However, most of our meals are plant based, dairy-free, gluten-free and nut-free, so you don't have to worry about most major allergens.

    Where can I find your nutritional information?

    Head to our menu, select the dish you are interested in, scroll down to details, then under nutritional facts you will find all the nutritional info.

    Can I choose more than 7 meals per week?

    Yes, you can choose between 3 and 28 meals each week! So whether you're looking for an occasional booster or a full meal plan, you can create the subscription that works for you.

    How do I manage my account?

    You can manage your account, subscription and personal details by logging in and heading over to ‘my account’

    • You can edit payment methods by selecting ‘payment methods’
    • You can edit your shipping address by selecting ‘shipping addresses’
    • You can see your previous deliveries and the contents of your past box by selecting ‘purchase history’
    • You can manage and view future orders by selecting ‘delivery schedule’
    How do I skip a box if I'm not in?
    • Go to ‘my account’ 
    • Then ‘delivery schedule’
    • From there choose the delivery you want to skip and select ‘skip this delivery’
    Can I have multiple plans at the same time?

    Yes! You can have multiple active subscriptions at the same time. Simply go to the home page and select ‘explore menu’ to add another plan.

    Do the dishes on the preset plan change each week?

    The dishes on the preset plans remain the same each week. If you would like to try some of our other dishes you can create a personalised plan and pick any of the meals you like!

    How do I change from a preset plan to my own plan?
    • Go to ‘my account’
    • Head to ‘subscriptions’ then ‘pause subscription’
    • Go to the home page and select ‘explore menu’
    • Then select ‘meals per delivery’ 
    • Select the number of dishes you wish to receive then select ‘continue’

    If you would like both a preset plan and personalised plan you do not need to pause your subscription.

    Can I use a discount code on a preset plan?

    Discount codes unfortunately cannot be applied to a preset plan because the preset plans already have a discount applied.

    However, if you would like to start with a preset plan and then the following week create your own plan, you'll be able to use the first order discount code then.

    Can I change a meal within a preset plan?

    Unfortunately, the preset plans are set so the meals cannot be changed.

    How do I change from one preset plan to another?

    Login to your account then:

    • Go to ‘my account’
    • Then go to ‘subscriptions’
    • Under ‘active subscriptions’ select ‘edit’
    • You will be directed to your plan page Under preset-plan select ‘edit’
    • Remove your current preset plan by selecting ‘clear all’ Then choose your new plan.
    Which plans are eligible for the first order discount code?

    In order to use the first order discount, you have to be on a personalised subscription. If you would like to start with a preset plan and then the following week create your own plan, you'll be able to use the first order discount code then. The first time discount code is not eligible for a one-time purchase.

    Can I use a discount code on a one-time purchase?

    No, the discount code is not valid for a one-time purchase.
